The Fleet: Test Drive Meme. 2. Comment with your thread start, with your character name and fandom in the subject line. 3. Tag into other's threads. 4. Have fun! 5. What happens on the TDM defaults to staying on the TDM (it's not taken in game), unless all players involved agree AND you have mod approval to c&p the thread to the log comm. You must get mod approval. **If you have questions, ask the Mods You've arrived! You've been seen by a coolly efficient (what you hope is a) medical professional - after all they did give you a shot of something. Then you were handed a slew of things you're still trying to process - communication devices, a ring (which is also a key?), a piece of transparent film that's flashing information. And clothing, that was a thoughtful gesture. And then there was the explanation - You've been taken (isn't that a nice way of saying 'kidnapped') by that floating orb of light, you can't leave, but while you're here you get room and board. Is that really a fair trade? Oh, and to top everything off, you have a set of gem like stones set into your chest, that you can't remove. Before you know it, you've moved with the crowd towards the shuttle and now that you are sitting down, it's now suddenly sinking in. You are so very far from home. [NOTE: Please note that the actual arrival process is different from the above scenario - please see the New Arrivals Page for a detailed explanation of the actual arrival process.] [Cafeteria] You’re hungry, and though the smells coming from the cafeteria are strange, they are alluring. The grumble in your belly tells you it’s worth chancing. [Multipurpose Common Area] You’re bored but haven’t quite worked up the courage to venture out into the greater parts of the station. The common area of the residential community seems like it might provide some distractions. And the view out the large windows lining one wall is simply stunning. [The Center Station Central Gardens] In an environment where spatial expansion is finite, it seems extravagant to house a garden this big. What looks like giant trees at first glance, turn outo be the wire structures that rise up six stores before fanning out actually house various breeds of creeping vines. There are two levels of raised walkways that wind around the vine structures. The ground level also wraps lazily through various plots of vegetation. There is enough variety of plants here to keep anyone interested for hours. [Cemetery Ring] If you’re in more for a somber atmosphere, the Cemetery Ring is open to everyone. The first sign posted outside the door reads "We are the lights that shines brightest against the night." The sign below it simply says "All are welcome." This wide corridor, that traverses the whole very top of the Inner Rings, is dimly lit, but pinpoints of light twinkle all over the wall. The wall juts out in an effort to create more surface area for memorials to those Owmi who have passed on to the next life since the Owmi started their nomadic journey. The peacefulness of the room is inviting. |
Rapunzel | Tangled
All of this was extremely strange to her - the natives and being on a ship in general. The closest she's ever come to being on a ship is a small boat out on the water. Now apparently Rapunzel is drifting among the stars. Never once had she thought that would possible and yet here she is. She's gathered up as much as her seventy-foot long hair in her arms so that it doesn't get tripped over though sometimes it slipped out and she has to stop to pick it up. However, once she's in the shuttle it's pooled to sit in the seat next to her and spilling out on the floor in between the seats.
Rapunzel is far too interested to peer out the tiny shuttle windows to see if she can see anything in the blackness but stars and ships. She was something of a mix of worry and excitement - can't deny her curiosity. Without looking the teenager spoke up. "Are we really among the stars?"
Garden
Of course she's found the garden. It's her favorite place anywhere within the Fleet. While she doesn't particularly like the idea of being trapped, Rapunzel is used to spending her time in a much smaller space. However, there's plenty to do here unlike in her tower. Yet she always came back to the garden - the most colorful place that's as close to home as she can get. Rapunzel has let her hair go free, it zigzags through the greenery and will lead anyone to her exact location should they feel the urge to follow it.
The owner of all of that hair has her back pressed up against the trunk of a great tree and there's a sketchpad in her lap. Her eyebrows are scrunched together and the end of her pencil is stuck in her mouth as she considered the drawing in front of her. After a moment, Rapunzel's nose wrinkles and she erases a part of her drawing. "That's no good either."
Anyone who looked at the paper would see that she's drawing one of the alien plants across from her but it isn't the flower that she's having trouble with. On the drawing of the flower is a small creature - one that she's clearly drawing from memory. "Pascal would be so disappointed. Well, not as upset if I'd sewn him another dress but still..."
Clearly she's used to talking to herself.
Gardens!
When she does reach the end of it, Leia's almost surprised to find a human at the other end. "Wow!", Leia said by way of a greeting. "You've got the most hair I've ever seen on anyone ever! I didn't know humans could have that much hair!"

So she doesn't exactly expect someone to follow it and is surprised by the sudden appearance of a young girl popping out of the greenery. Rapunzel gave the girl a sheepish smile. "It's been growing since I was born and I've never cut it." She took a moment to look around, make sure they were alone before leaning in. "Can you keep a secret?"
no subject
And a secret? Leia was good at keeping secrets; she'd kept her own for years back home, after all. Leia smiled and nodded more vigorously, leaning in. "What's the secret?", she said in a conspiratorial tone.

Rapunzel cupped her mouth with both hands. "It's magic. When I sing, it can heal wounds." She won't mention that it can also rejuvenate someone so that they look young again. What she does do is pull it back so that the short brown strands can be seen. "If you cut it, it loses the magic."
no subject
"Not the really fancy ones," Leia said. "Those take a long time to do and you have to sit there and hold still the whole time or you could mess it up. Plus they take about a million hair pins and things, and then you have to sit still more while they take them all out later." The number of hair pins is certainly an exaggeration, but still it's a lot.
"I like braids though," she said. "I could show you some Alderaanian ones, though we might have to change them a little since you have so much hair."
Leia grinned at the secret. "That sounds really useful!", she said. "Does it still work since you got here? Usually being brought here takes away any special powers you have, though they can come back later."
