[Shuttle]
You've arrived! You've been seen by a coolly efficient (what you hope is a) medical professional - after all they did give you a shot of something. Then you were handed a slew of things you're still trying to process - communication devices, a ring (which is also a key?), a piece of transparent film that's flashing information. And clothing, that was a thoughtful gesture. And then there was the explanation - You've been taken (isn't that a nice way of saying 'kidnapped') by that floating orb of light, you can't leave, but while you're here you get room and board. Is that really a fair trade? Oh, and to top everything off, you have a set of gem like stones set into your chest, that you can't remove.

Before you know it, you've moved with the crowd towards the shuttle and now that you are sitting down, it's now suddenly sinking in.

You are so very far from home.

[NOTE: Please note that the actual arrival process is different from the above scenario - please see the New Arrivals Page for a detailed explanation of the actual arrival process.]

~ ~

[Cafeteria]
You’re hungry, and though the smells coming from the cafeteria are strange, they are alluring. The grumble in your belly tells you it’s worth chancing.

~ ~

[Multipurpose Common Area]
You’re bored but haven’t quite worked up the courage to venture out into the greater parts of the station. The common area of the residential community seems like it might provide some distractions. And the view out the large windows lining one wall is simply stunning.

~ ~

[The Center Station Central Gardens]
In an environment where spatial expansion is finite, it seems extravagant to house a garden this big. What looks like giant trees at first glance, turn outo be the wire structures that rise up six stores before fanning out actually house various breeds of creeping vines. There are two levels of raised walkways that wind around the vine structures. The ground level also wraps lazily through various plots of vegetation. There is enough variety of plants here to keep anyone interested for hours.

~ ~

[Cemetery Ring]
If you’re in more for a somber atmosphere, the Cemetery Ring is open to everyone.

The first sign posted outside the door reads "We are the lights that shines brightest against the night." The sign below it simply says "All are welcome."

This wide corridor, that traverses the whole very top of the Inner Rings, is dimly lit, but pinpoints of light twinkle all over the wall. The wall juts out in an effort to create more surface area for memorials to those Owmi who have passed on to the next life since the Owmi started their nomadic journey.

The peacefulness of the room is inviting.

"Just wanted to make sure we didn't need to call someone to come fix it, is all." There's a bubble of laughter under her words that doesn't quite make it out.

Curiosity seemed to be a trait that ran through most of the people who decided to travel the universe. Of course Clara knew that the Doctor had many companions throughout the years, he was about nine hundred years old when they met and was even older now. She doesn't ask about it much, not wanting to be compared to the others who came before her (and were lost) but sometimes she has to wonder if she'll ever meet any of them. So when Rose started to talk about her pilot and wasn't quite sure how to describe him properly, she has to wonder now. "Sounds as complicated as my relationship with my pilot. Have to wonder if maybe it's the same pilot." That's about as subtle as a brick through a window but also gave them both the opportunity to keep their secrets for the time being.

Her eyebrows raise at that. "Knighted and then banished - that certainly sounds like a good story to hear one day." At the request for a story, Clara does have to take a minute to think about it. "Well, there's the one time I met Robin Hood and his Merry Men. My pilot couldn't keep his mouth shut and ended up in a fight with Robin - Robin with his sword and my friend with a spoon. 'Course the Sherriff of Nottingham was working together with a bunch of robots who'd crash landed in the forest."

Rose also wondered if it was the same pilot, and picking a fight with Robin Hood, using a spoon, just proved it. Especially with robots working with the sherriff of Nottingham, that was absolutely proof. "Robin Hood, for real?" she bit her lip, almost envious and giggled. "If your pilot friend is the Doctor -- and mum's the word on that, yeah? If this is the wrong timeline, I run the risk of destroying the universe, oops," she threw her hands up in an exaggerated shrug and eyeroll, "Buuuuut, if it is him," Rose laughed, "Then I can't say I'm surprised. He's always doin' things like that. Saved the Earth with a sword once, and got his hand cut off with it." Which he regrew. Nope, still creepy. "He got better," Rose laughed even more.

"For real! Of course he didn't believe it was Robin Hood but he certainly changed his mind by the end of our time there." But oh man, the bickering Clara had to put up with before that. It was like dealing with a pair of children. She laughed when the familiar named popped up, making a show of zipping her lips. "Mum's the word, then. Here's hoping it's not about to destroy the universe talking about him."

Her eyes widen at the statement of the Doctor getting his hand cut off. "That is just... weird. Even for him. And he once told me that he didn't like the color of his kidneys."
bigbadrose: (laugh until you cry)

[personal profile] bigbadrose 2017-01-13 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yet another laugh. "No, well, he wouldn't." Hell, even Rose would be pretty shocked and determined to prove he wasn't the real Robin Hood, because of course, how could he be!?

Gods, she had wanted to be able to chat about the Doctor like this since forever. Since Sarah Jane's offer, and since she started dimension-hopping even more. She couldn't tell Mickey nine-tenths of the things she wanted to, she learned that well before the Doctor regenerated, and being hung up on him an entire universe sealed away still wasn't enough.

"Did he just get new ones?" she tilted her head, wondering how he could tell the color, and why it mattered anymore than ginger hair. Weirdo alien. "He wanted ginger hair, still have no idea why. He gets all cute and pouty about it though," Rose grinned.

"He might just be a story to us now but there can be a bit of truth in stories." The Doctor had been determined to prove all of it wasn't real, maybe hadn't fully believed it in the end either but had come to respect Robin for what he stood for.

Clara's had a few people to talk about the Doctor - usually under extremely strange and dangerous situations but it sounded as if Rose had traveled with the alien much like she did. That was something she couldn't do with just anyone. They didn't seem to see the world through her eyes, they were all old pros at dealing with the new and wonderous things the Doctor could show them.

"Yeah, a while back. Really he's the oddest man I've ever met." Don't ask her because Clara couldn't tell how he knew the color of his kidneys. He hadn't even done a scan or anything - he'd just known. "I've traveled with two of his faces and neither of them has ginger hair. Oh god he got himself a new accent though! Before he was all British-sounding and now he's gone Scottish!"
bigbadrose: (you have my attention)

[personal profile] bigbadrose 2017-01-13 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
"That's true, even the Doctor is just a story to most people!" Rose laughed.

At the rest, she started off grinning, but it slowly faded. Two faces. The Doctor never spoke about the companions of his past, because it was painful, because it was before the war, and because Rose would be jealous... which she is now. How petty. She hates feeling so small, so envious, wanting adventures with him again... throwing away everything for him, just for the chance of it.

She pushed her hair back with her hand. "Scottish?" she chuckled all the same. "Well he was Northern when I met him... said lots of planets have a North. I wonder if that means they all have a Scotland too," she stuck her tongue out to the side. "What's he look like? In your time. I'm--" Was it dangerous to say? If Clara was in the past, it was fine. But if it was the future....

The reckless part of Rose just wanted to tell her even more in that case. In case it was another alternate universe she had to prevent-- No, Clara was really nice, and happy, and there was no way Rose wanted to ruin that. Bad enough having to get a message through Donna, by letting one version, even if it was a terrible apocalyptic version, die. "I've been looking for him," she muttered softly. "We got separated. Before just here I mean," But she lifted her brows, still grinning. "Gotta make sure I find the right one or--" she didn't know what would happen otherwise. She knew she couldn't risk finding her first version of the Doctor, she'd have loved to, she still missed him, but she'd already caused a paraodx and watched him get eaten by reapers once, she had no desire to relive that all over again. "Or I have to jump again," she bit her bottom lip. "Not sure I can here, but --" She shrugged. "If it's from his past, I'll just pretend I'm someone else, yeah?" And if the future? What then?

"One of the best stories I've ever known." It was why she hadn't been able to give it up even when she tried.

Clara knew what it felt like to be jealous of the people who came before her - she'd felt it when the TARDIS decided to show her all of those other female companions and then again when she met River. Especially after finding out that River was married. Since then she's lost that feeling mainly because of Danny. A love found outside of the Doctor and understanding that she was not his girlfriend.

Now is when she leaned in close in order to whisper to Rose like she had a secret. Or at least something she didn't want everyone to hear. "Honestly, I think he's just hung up on Earth. I mean, he certainly hangs out there a lot." It was practically his home away from home - the planet he stuck around after Gallifrey's loss. "Hm, well he's older. Tall and thin with salt and pepper hair and crazy eyebrows. Claims he's well into his thousands now. What about yours?"

Maybe, if Rose described her Doctor Clara will recognize him from the description. While there is a possibiity that Rose is from the future she could just as well be from his past - a past that Clara has sort of shared in. Or at least her echoes had and sometimes Clara can remember bits and pieces of those million lives. Usually it just came in the form of faint recognition, like when she'd met his tenth regeneration and the one he didn't talk about. "I'm not sure any of us can leave or even get a message to him. Everything I owned I lost somewhere so I can't even call him. If you need, you can just say that you know him through me. There's already loads of things I can't just tell him if he's from the past."
bigbadrose: (yaaaaay snow!)

[personal profile] bigbadrose 2017-01-15 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, same," Rose put her hands in her pockets, unable to look up at first. But at the part about Earth, she bursts out laughing again. "I said that too! He always says he's just in the area, but I swear he likes us. He hangs around England more'n the rest of the world too. I guess it's easier for him to blend in there, but still. He is absolutely hung up on Earth," she giggled.

"Salt and pepper, really?" Rose closed her eyes trying to imagine it. "Ah well the first one, he was 900. Leather jack, blue eyes, big ears. Second one... he wears a pinstripe suit and tie, and has really great hair." Rose dazed off into space, muttering to herself, "Really great...." She wasn't hung up on him like he was on Earth. Really. Mostly. Maybe a little.

But at the offer, Rose just grinned softly, "Nah, you're in his future from me, so I gotta nail down the right one." She heaved a sigh of relief. "It's good though! It means... there is a future," she bit her bottom lip. "He said he couldn't come get me without risking destroying the universe... two universes actually." It was dangerous to tell anyone that, and she hadn't shared it with anyone outside of her father and Mickey, not even to the rest of Torchwood and her team. But it reminded her of Gwen and Nancy, and she was pretty sure avoiding saying it wasn't going to prevent anything. "So trying to find him again... was last resort." Even if she wanted to come back, which she did. To keep her promise of forever... which apparently she still failed, but whatever, at least he wasn't alone. That was important. And after seeing what happened when Donna wasn't there to save him; even more important.

"'M glad though," she laughed, letting the giddy joy bubble over her. "You sound like a good person to keep him from goin' off the deep end. He needs that," she grinned. "But yeah, if we find yours, well..." He promised he wouldn't forget her. Even if it was a future version, she couldn't just pretend she didn't care about him. Even more if he was lonely, but he had Clara so that was good, but would he have forgotten her? Curse of the TimeLords, he was scared of her dying so much before him, and clearly Rose had.

Rose glanced away again. "I don't think he'll be very happy to see me again," she bit her bottom lip and cast her eyes down. Aside from the danger of the dimension cannon, showing up out of his past like that, reminding him of her death, all the pain and loss she'd always meant to protect him from -- how could he be happy about that? He was happy to see Sarah Jane again, so maybe he wouldn't mind too much. She hoped. She wasn't sure which would hurt more, if he didn't recognize her, didn't remember her, or if he was just mad at her and didn't want to see her again. Either way, it made her want to run, but she wasn't sure in which direction. Forward. Always forward, at least.
